Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

Facial Rejuvenation at AcuGlo Wellness addresses both your external appearance and internal symptoms that shine light on the root causes of common complaints. We offer two types of acupuncture facial rejuvenation. The first is cosmetic acupuncture and the second is a specific technique of cosmetic acupuncture called Mei Zen.

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation use tiny needles that are thinner than a strand of human hair. The needles are placed in specific points on the face and body that help to revitalize and rejuvenate the whole body to look and feel younger. Cosmetic acupuncture specifically tighten pores, improves muscle tone and dermal contraction while stimulating collagen and elastin production. Collagen is a protein, which the body uses to keep the skin youthful and elastic. This microcirculation increases blood and lymph locally to increase brightness and tone to the face. Muscle motor points on the face are used to reestablish the muscle to go back to its original placement to help the face appearing more smooth and lifted. This technique gives your face a chiseled sculpted look. With cosmetic acupuncture, we target individual fine lines and wrinkles as well as specific acupuncture points in the face. We recommend a series of 12 consecutive weekly treatments.

Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture was developed by Dr. Martha Lucus, a licensed acupuncturist. “Mei Zen” means beautiful person in Chinese. Treating imbalances inside the body that cause aging and its effects in conjunction with treating the face using acupuncture is simply the best slow aging medicine available. This is a cosmetic procedure that is healthy and based on Chinese Medicine theory and techniques. Collagen is one of the main proteins in our skin that gives it strength and elasticity. As we age, the collagen declines and gives us saggy skin and wrinkles. The small and fine acupuncture needles are inserted very shallow into the skin. This will cause little micro-traumas in the skin to improve collagen formation. When the skin perceives a trauma, fibroblasts of collagen and elastin are called to the site to heal the trauma. The same process is involved when your body has a wound. The body’s wound healing process involves collagen and elastin. The matrix of collagen and elastin takes at least 4 weeks to grow and the skin cells in the dermis must be stimulated repeated to improve collagen production. This technique can be used on the face, neck, abdominal toning, as well as for fertility and weight loss.

To receive lasting results a series of 10 treatments, twice a week for 5 weeks is recommended.  After series of treatments, we recommend once a month for maintenance procedure. This can prolong the results for 5 to 10 years.

Additional recommendations will be made to enhance your results such as herbal formulas, supplements, nutrition, and/or whole plant organic skincare. It takes some time and effort to keep looking young just like it takes time and effort to have a fit and healthy body.

Treatments are very relaxing, gentle and painless. If you would like a great alternative to Botox or a surgical facelift, cosmetic acupuncture is your answer. After your first treatment you will notice a glow to your face. Most patients see noticeable results with a course of treatments.

Cosmetic acupuncture has been featured on shows like Oprah, Abc News, and Dr. Oz. It has been gaining popularity and is the latest weapon in the anti-aging war. Cosmetic acupuncture is now a favorite treatment among A-list starts such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Madonna, Elle Macpherson, Angelina Jolie, and Kim Kardashian.

A facelift averages between $10,000 and $20,000 including anesthesia and facility fees, according to the Consumer Guide of Plastic Surgery. Since it’s surgery with a general anesthesia, the procedure can take several hours and includes at least one night in the hospital. On top of that, there is a two to four week recovery time.

Botox injections are filled with botulinum toxin, which temporarily removes wrinkles on the face. This can cost between $300 and $1000 depending on how many areas of the face are injected, and are made to be repeated every six months, according to the Ethical Cosmetic Surgery Association. Finding a qualified doctor to administer Botox is key, as improperly done injections can result in temporary eyelid drooping, double vision, and weakness in the facial muscles. On top of that, Botox may cause serious side effects that can be life threatening.

Restylane treatments are another temporary fix sold as facial filler made of an acid that’s naturally occurring in the body. It works to smooth wrinkles on the nose and mouth area and can cost between $500 to several thousand dollars per treatment, depending on the site of the area, according to the Ethical Cosmetic Surgery Association. Results last about six months in many people. Side effects can include bruising, itching and redness. Patients with allergies may not be a good candidate for Restylane.

The goal at AcuGlo Wellness with facial rejuvenation is to treat both your external appearance and internal symptoms to create a balanced system. This will give a youthful appearance and enhance your life completely. We recommend a routine of high-quality nutritional supplements and/or herbal formulas, as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations to be combined with the facial rejuvenation service of your choice (or if you prefer we can recommend a series or treatment that would be best for you).

Premature aging is a result of collagen proteins loosing their flexibility, elasticity and function. The factors that damage collagen proteins can come from stress, low-grade inflammation and stagnant lymphatic fluids. Signs of premature aging in the skin can be uneven skin tone, puffiness, age spots, breakouts and wrinkles.

Reasons aging is accelerated:

  • Sun and weather exposure

  • Poor quality skin care and cosmetic products

  • Environmental toxins and molds

  • Poor quality nutrition and nutritional supplements

  • Pharmaceutical drugs

  • Diet high in refined sugar, dairy, or high-glycemic foods

  • Weak Gut microbiome leading to undiagnosed food sensitivities and leaky gut

  • Autoimmune conditions

  • Hormonal Imbalances

  • Steroid or antibiotic use

  • Additives, artificial sweeteners and trans-fats

  • High stress life, caffeine addiction, adrenal fatigue

  • Low-Grade infections and bacterial overgrowth

  • High levels of free radicals and/or metals in the body

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Under-exercising or over-exercising

  • Addictions to drugs and alcohol

The results are not as dramatic as a surgical facelift. Rather, the changes are gradual over the course of several weeks. By the end of a series, the face is lifted and bright, wrinkles are diminished, and facial tone and color are markedly improved. Results like these were confirmed by a study published in the Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in which 300 individuals completed a full facial acupuncture series. 90% of the participants concluded with noticeable improvements in their skin. Monthly maintenance sessions are recommended to keep results lasting for years.

Those with conditions such as high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, acute infections and pregnancy are not ideal candidates for facial rejuvenation acupuncture. A practitioner will pre-screen all potential patients to make sure they are good candidates for the series.
